Precious antiques - of the produce world

When we think of heirlooms, durable goods like jewelry or antique furniture comes to mind, and not all of us are so lucky as to have precious goods passed down from generation to generation, but at the fruit market, we get to enjoy heirlooms on a daily basis! Produce that's referred to as "heirlooms" are older varieties of fruits or vegetables that are usually grown for local consumption. Often the seeds have been passed down from one generation of family farmers to the next, and have been carefully cultivated for literally hundreds of years.  One tasty example are these Yakima grown heirloom tomatoes. Their flavor is off the charts, their colors are gorgeous, and their texture is tender. Included in this mix are Green Zebra, Cherokee Purple, Pineapple, Yellow Sunshine and Rose. Enjoy their lush flavor and fantastic color!

Fruitfully yours,
Karin
